Primary Update

Shaun and I survived the rest of the year as Sunbeams teachers!!! They didn't eat us like we thought they might on the first day we taught them. I will definitely miss teaching some of the kids more than other, but I really do love each of them.

So it is a new year, which means new classes. This year I am teaching the Valiant 10 girls class (they changed the numbering to the age that the kids of when they go into the class, not the age when they leave...). My teaching partners name is Elizabeth Sorenson. It will be fun to get to know her more. Another fun thing about my class is I already know most of the girls. I had them last year in our first 2 classes! Another cool thing about this year is I never have to do sharing time!!! I am VERY excited about this!!

So you are probably wondering what happen to Shaun. He got released. A few months ago he got called to be the assistant to the secretary in the Elders quorum. The Bishop called him on his way to the Primary activity last week and told him that he was being released so that he could focus more on Elders quorum. I will miss teaching with him.

Primary Update!

The year is almost over and so is our time being Sunbeam teachers (at least that is what we have been told... We will see...). Each week is a new adventure and some Sundays it's an adventure I'd rather not be on. Logan has very few good days, but those days we love! This last Sunday I wasn't feeling 100% and luckily it was a semi good day for Logan. Unlike 2 weeks before hand when we had to go get his dad because he won't listen and while Shaun was going to get his dad he picked up his chair like he was going to through it at me... Scary.

It amazes me the different levels our kids in the class are. We have Anna, who can draw picture that you can tell what they are, she can write her own name and she can say prayers all by herself. Then there is Logan who can't do any of that. The other kids are somewhere in between.

I really do like being a primary teacher. The kids are just a challenge, but one that is getting us ready for kids, right?

Primary Update!

Two Sundays ago we received a new primary presidency in our ward. At the beginning of class yesterday the new president came into our class and told us that they were doing some switching up of the classes. (We have a lot of nine year old's in our ward, so we have two classes for them.) They took four of our kids, including the one they has given us so much trouble, and gave us four new kids. We now have a class that consists of two girls and five boys. Class this week went much better and I think they teachers that now have the other kids will be able to handle them much better. One of the new boys, S we will call him, already seems to like Shaun a lot, which is good. I feel a lot better about the class now and actually am looking forward to next week.

We talked to the presidency after sharing time and just thanked them for making they changes. They told us that there had been a lot of praying that had gone into the decision and that we both looked a lot happier. P seemed to be doing a lot better in sharing time, when I looked over at him.

Primary is...

Pretty good for the most part. We have 7 kids in our class, 2 of which showed up for the first time this Sunday. Most of them are REALLY great kids. They are quiet and only talk when they are called on or when we are all just talking. There is, however, a few that are not so easy to handle. There is only one of our kids, we shall call him "P" that completely drives me crazy. He is very disruptive and he doesn't like to listen. Last week he told me that the lesson was boring. I, in return told him that I would go make a copy of the lesson so that he could do the lesson this week. He didn't like that idea so much. Then during sharing time he, for some unknown reason, stuck his head through the back of his chair. This week he kept hitting his head on the wall. He also loves finishing scriptures for other kids when he thinks they are reading too slowly and he loves telling us totally off the subject things. Needless to say it's lots of fun... or something like that.



Shaun is actually handling our class much better then me. He hasn't once freaked out on the class like me and he hasn't gotten after our hard kid. He has been a great example to me. I actually did a lot better this week. I just tried pretend that "P" wasn't there, doing the things that annoy me that most.



I hope that as the year goes on that things will get a lot better and that I will learn to be more patient. I am pretty sure that is why we have received this calling.



Anyhow.. there is a little update into our lives. I will try and be better about updating this more often. I still need to post about Christmas and New Years. I will try doing that this week. I just started school again, so we will see how things go. =)
