This year on the 4th of July we headed up to Promontory Point, aka Golden Spike, with Shaun's parents, his Grandpa, and Sarah and Kenny (a family friend and her son). It was pretty fun. We were able to watch a steam demonstration, which taught us all about how the locomotives run, and then we watch a reenactment of the driving of the Golden Spike. They didn't have enough cast members so they asked for volunteers from the audience. Shaun's Dad Kim got volunteered, so it was fun watching him!
The only problem with the outing was all of the bugs. We were getting eaten alive! I had one bug start crawling in my hair and bit me! It hurt!
The rest of the day was spent playing games and just hanging out with family and friends. We didn't end up watching any fireworks, but that's okay. :)
